In homage to Valentine’s Day I am hosting the 20’s & 30’s Valentine’s Day Speed Date at the Boneyard in Mayfield! Speed dating will start at 7pm and go will be $5 a person. We have our own private room at the Boneyard. .

What is Speed Dating?
Speed dating is a way to meet many new people by having multiple small dates lasting 3 or 4 minutes. The person talk to the first person for 4 minutes then rotates to the next person. At the end of the “date” each person writes down if the would like to get to know the person better or not. After the event results will be sent out to people that have had mutual matches.

Why are you charging $5?
The $5 cover is to cover the cost of the room. In comparison, local Speed dating companies charge nearly $30 a person. I was able to work a real good deal for the room so $5 a person is a steal. It’s a pretty nice room! I will refund you up to a week before the event. Since I am financing this event myself, there will be no refunds the last weeks.

Who and How many?
The Speed Dating portion of the event will be singles only! Ages 21-39. I am going to work hard to keep the guy/girl ratio fairly even. In a perfect world it would be nice to see 50% newbies and 50% regulars. Overall I will have room for 25 women and 25 men. If I have a larger interest then that I will talk to the Boneyard about expanding the event.

Who is going to send out the results? When?
I will most likely do the results myself. I would love to find a volunteer to help me with this. Preferably some who is not going to actually partake in the event. I will try to have the results out on Valentine’s Day but in honest it could be a few days. People’s contact information will only be given out to mutual matches. No exceptions.

Is this a good event for Newbies?
Hell Yes, You’ve get to meet other newbies and some of the regulars.

Why is this event split into 3 events?
This event is split into 3 events because I need to keep track of the girl/guy ratio. The 3rd one is an event after Speed Dating that is open to anyone in the 20’s/30’s Meetup.

Will I find my Man/Woman of my dreams at this event?
Maybe. Love is about taking chances. You might have matches and you might not. At the very least you get to meet a lot of new people for friendship or more. Let’s all keep an open mind but not take it personally if feelings aren’t mutual.

Is there food and alcohol?
Yes and no. I purchased some chips and salsa for during the event and there will be a cash bar for us. Dinner is not provided but you can order something from the Boneyard’s menu.

**********Speed Dating Update (2/10/2010)**********

Update your RSVP’s

Please update your RSVP so I have a better idea who’s coming and who isn’t. Also if you are bringing friends please specify if they are female or male so I can get an accurate number. We currently still have spots open on both sides. Right now we actually need more guys to balance out the ratio.

Arrival/Schedule

Arrival/Check-in will be at 7pm. The room is located on the second floor of the Boneyard. Take the stairs near the entrance then make a left at the top of the stairs. Please be on time or early since we have limited time in the room. Speed Dating will start at 7:15. Please bring a $5 bill or singles. I can’t promise that I’ll have change for a $20 bill for everyone. About half way through we’ll take a small break. Afterwards we’ll hit the game room and all else the Boneyard has to offer.

Procedure

People will be given a number when they arrive and sit in there assigned seat. Each person will have sheet to write down their date’s number, name, and any comments. The girls will stay seated and the guys will be the ones who move. After all the dates are over the event organizers (and helpers) will tally the results. E-mails will go out Valentine’s Day.

Pre-Registration

In order to try to save some time people are welcome to pre-register with me. All you need to do is send me (Dave) an e--mail with your name and e-mail address. It’s as simple as that. If you’re bringing friends please let me know their information too. This will save a lot of time.
