12-23-09 fIinal event UPDATE:
Cleveland 20's & 30's goes to Pittsburgh meetup!
Event is now closed to new RSVP's. A waiting list is available if you are absolutely 100% certain that you want to go. Cost is approx. $50.00 per person for the hotel and includes full breakfast on Sunday).
Event itinerary and information:
Hotel: SpringHill Suites, North Shore District. 223 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Hotel is located next to PNC Arena (Steelers Stadium, the new casino, and the Andy Warhol Museum, which is a district directly across the river from downtown and the Strip District.)
Hotel info: Hotel has onsite parking for $18.00 daily. Street parking (like Cleveland) is free and easy to find on the weekend. There is a Steelers game Sunday so traffic may be heavy on Sunday afternoon. Hotel has an indoor pool/jacuzzi/sauna open 9am-11pm and many members stated they plan to use it, so bring your swim gear. Hotel has onsite restaurant/bar called SoHo. Hotel also has a free full breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. Hotel is giving us an 11-passenger shuttle van anywhere in the area until 2am. It covers all zones except Southside, which we'll have to take a taxi or drive to. Walking distance to downtown and the Strip District, just across the bridge, literally.
Room #1 : Derek's room: Derek, John, Tabitha, and Derek's 2 friends, +1 more spot is left.
Room #2 : Sarah's room: Sarah, Carlos, Jeannie, Tootie, +2 more spots left.
Room #3 (unconfirmed): Mike's room: ???
Schedule of events:
Most of us will be arriving Saturday between 1-2pm. Someone suggested lunch at the SoHo in our hotel or a nearby establishment. Then check-in. The Andy Warhol Museum is adjacent and a possibility. Once everyone is in Pitts, we can figure out where we're going clubbing at, and when. My friend Corrin who lives in Pittsburgh is meeting us out for clubs/bars/drinking/partying and is probably bringing some friends. Derek has also invited a friend in Pittsburgh to join us and it is most likely she will have a group of local friends too. I am being told Southside or Lawrenceville are the top 2 places to go. However, we are close to the Strip District, so it's anyone's call at this point! As for Sunday, we can get free breakfast in the morning and do whatever during the day.. since we have no real schedule, anything can and will happen!!!!!!!!!!!
I am driving from Cleveland and plan to leave around 10am to pickup Derek, Jeanie, Gina, and Tabitha. I believe there is a conflict and Sarah/Carlos may need a driver. Tootie is planning to leave Cleveland after work (later than 3:30pm). I have yet to hear from Mike and Abishek on when you guys plan to come. On sunday, I am probably going to drive back mid to late afternoon. ***Don't forget cash for the tolls in Ohio and PA.***
See you all there! Anyone who has questions or concerns, please call me (216) 409-2086. If you're in but still need confirmation, e-mail or call me asap! -John

Mike - I sent you a message as well, including my cell #. There's definitely room now. Timing is a bit up in the air still depending on when Carlos gets out of work, which was different than what I messaged. If you want, give me a call in the morning or if I don't hear from you once I've heard from Carlos I'll give you a call to figure out what's the best plan of attack to pick you up.
looks like we'll be able to play "drunk operation" thanks to marshall loaning us his board game.
Abhishek let me know he's not able to go as he has the flu. I MIGHT have takers for the 2 spots in my room but they aren't confirmed so will bend to anyone else that is an absolute.
You tell Stanwick if he wants to meet us to bring it.
Construction around Stanwick street but my friend who lives there says it may be done. They finished remodeling Point Park, they added a casino next to the science building.
At this time I'll be driving myself, Carlos, and Abhishek
Sarah I will come from Lakewood.
Abhishek - Where are you coming from - eastside or west? I'm eastside. Carlos is westside. The car we're in still isn't decided yet.
Is there anyone going whom I can car pool. I can drive too, I have a Hyundai Accent. Let me know, my number is 4342277434
John, I'm trying to get 2 more people who live in the area to meet us when we're in pittsburgh too:)
PS--If anyone wants to bring booze, there isn't a liquor store in downtown itself, so I would suggest bringing it from Ohio hehe.
What, what?
Sarah's room is booked, so is Johns. Same hotel...... 4-6 people per room.
im getting fired from my job today, i spent an hour researching this when i shoulda been working..... i found a hotel, standby.
I can John. I just need to know where.
Some new people are in for the trip! Who wants to step up and book a room for 4 !!!!
A lot was discussed last night... and I can't remember a damn thing. I guess it's safe to say there will be the Kevin/Alex/Jeannie +1 room, the John/Derek+2 room, and the Mike+3 room. It now appears we will be at different hotels in different parts of the city unless we step this up and choose a location.
arr they went out of busniess back to the drawing board

Hostels are friendly, inexpensive lodgings for travelers. They provide dormitory-style accommodations with separate quarters for males and females. Many hostels have private/family rooms which can be reserved in advance. Beds come with blankets and pillow; hostel guests provide (or rent for a modest fee) their own towels and bed linens. The Pittsburgh International Hostel charges $19 for members, and $22 for non-members, including tax /night/bed.
I dont have a plus one...ask John haha. I can be in a room with Candyman and Alex if they want:)
