It's Cleveland.... start of February, freezing outside .... and probably snowing! Wouldn't it be nice to go out sun bathing without flying 1000 miles away??!!! Picture yourself under a waterfall in an outside hot-tub with a swimup bar! Snow is falling around you and a crazy man is throwing snowballs from a distance! LOL Well, that was us last year and we are doing it again...this time in style.

Now that the Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky has finished their massive renovation, they're considered the nation's largest indoor waterpark. They have a suntanning deck and jacuzzi too. If we get ten people, group rate is $29 (reg price 42) We will organize carpools and exact details closer to the date.

Here's their description of the expansion:

NOW OPEN! Kalahari, Sandusky is now home to America?s Largest Indoor Waterpark with 173,000 sq. ft. of wet & wild fun!

The 93,000 sq. ft. expansion features:
- Texlon transparent roof allowing natural sunlight to enter
- 12,000 sq. ft. indoor wave pool
- 13,000 sq. ft. mezzanine deck
- Swahili Swirl 60' diameter bowl raft ride
- Cheetah Race 4 lane mat slides racing down a 55? incline
- Tanzanian Twister bowl ride body slide
- A second Flowrider®
- Rippling Rhino raft ride
- Two new indoor/outdoor spas with swim up bar
- Shooting Stars 3,700 sq. ft. basketball pool
- Kids Safari 2,500 sq. ft. children?s play area
- Large African themed restaurant and bar

Enjoy the lazy river, indoor/outdoor spas, Leopard's Lair & Crocodile Cove play areas and so much more! No matter what the weather is like outside, you can splish splash all day long indoors at Kalahari.

I went ahead and booked a Village Suite. This will be the party room of all party rooms, here is the description;

Three bedrooms: one with a king bed and two with two queen beds. Three bathrooms, one with whirlpool tub. Flat screen television in each bedroom. Living room group with queen sofa sleeper, fireplace and 32" flat screen television. Fully equipped kitchen and dining room set. Patio/balcony with furniture.

Admission to America's Largest Indoor Waterpark and the Tree Top Play dry play area included for each registered hotel guest!

Room is priced for up to 12. A 13th can be added for a fee.

Room includes:
Microwave
Full sized refrigerator
Dishwasher
Coffee maker
Free high speed Internet access available
Stove/Oven
Hair dryer
Telephone(s) with voice mail
Dining table and chairs
Three ironing boards and irons
Three in-room safes
32" flat screen television(s) with pay-per-view movies
Dishes, pots, pans, flatware, glassware, utensils
Complimentary access to Fitness Center

The cost per person is $56.00 (except the Tootie early bird special if he goes) This could turn out to be one of the deals of the century....the are people paying $42 just to spend the day at the waterpark alone. Ok some additional details.....we will arrange for carpools based on your location. Checkin is anytime noon or later on Saturday, and checkout is at 11 am Sunday, but the waterpark can be enjoyed until 3pm on Sunday. There is a nightclub that opens up at 10 pm on Saturday so be prepared for some night life fun too! Also I propose we have dinner in the room to cut down on some costs. Perhaps grill some burgers and hotdogs like we did at putin bay? There is a full kitchen with a frig so we can do it. Also it is Lisa's birthday so we will be celebrating that as well!

I have authorized paypal as the preferred means of payment. You can access this through the meetup page. I'll accept other means of payment (cash, check) in person if paypal is not an option for you. In all honesty we may have enough interest to book another 6 person room I'd love to see that happen. If this one fills I may be able to book another but only if I collect the money first. The cost per person would be roughly the same for thise in a 6 person room, I believe. They may sell out or throw the 2 night required flag soon though.

Whoa; all in all I spent $353.08 for the trip. I could've spent that to be loved long long time if you know what I mean.

I think we should bring snacks, beverages, alcohol just to have stuff on hand, so that we aren't forced into spending big $$$ at the bar when we want to drink.

I am 33/33/33 torn. A part of me wants to drive 45 minutes out to Strongsville to ride with Tootie so I can get to Sandusky in 50 minutes; A part of me wants to leave my car in a tow-able library parking lot in Tremont for 2 days; And another part of me wants to drive myself.

Good news for those of us staying overnight and the group in general: I reserved us a cabana, which means not only do we have our own place to meet and rest, but it also allows those registered to the reservation to enter the park at 10am like everyone else! I attached my cabana reservation to Kevin's room reservation so that everyone on his reservation list can take advantage of this, but he hasn't added anyone to his list yet. Until he will remedies this, only I can get in early.

I had a very good time. It was great to escape real life for a little while and have some drinks in the hot tub!
    •  I'll admit Tootie's cabana was an awesome idea! Thanks again.
    • John (+1 guest)
King Candy prevails, Tootie's on a boat, Mr. Wallery, Mr. Pisseus, and the rest of us soaked up some artificial sun. It's events like this that makes the 20's and 30's, FUN!
